IQS Research values the privacy of all persons and entities with whom we interact. We’ve updated our privacy notice to explain how we collect, handle, and report data so that you can better understand the level of care with which we treat your data.
What does IQS consider to be data?
Data to us is any information (quantitative or qualitative) that we collect throughout the course of our research process. This can be personal information which could verifiably be used to identify a natural person. Common examples include, but are not limited to, first and last names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. This could also be sensitive information such as your ethnic or racial origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs and more.
Why do we collect data?
We collect information about you for the purpose of conducting research studies. When you are invited to take part in a particular study, we will explain what the study is, why it’s being conducted, and how your data will be used.
How do we collect your data?
The majority of the data we receive is provided directly by research respondents in the course of voluntarily completing a survey, assessment, or interview. It is entirely your decision to provide this requested information.
We may also receive information about you from our clients – common client examples include your employer or a company with whom you do business.
How do we handle confidentiality?
Confidential means that we don’t share your response(s) in a way that would allow someone else to identify you personally. When confidentiality has been assured, which is common, IQS Research keeps your information confidential and will only use the information for the particular purpose stated at the point of collection. We will seek your specific permission for any additional use if that use could reasonably be connected to you personally. An exception to this is where processing of personal information is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation under the applicable law.
Some data are gathered anonymously which means that your response is not individually identifiable back to you; not even our team is able to associate a given response with a specific person.
How do we keep your data safe?
IQS Research employees understand the need for privacy, and we maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect data acquired for our clients. In addition, access to data is limited to individuals who are contractually bound to follow the confidentiality principles of our firm.
We follow internal protocols regarding the retention, disposition, and disposal of data. One reason that we may retain data on file is for the purpose of making historical comparisons. Our guiding principle for retention is that the data is retained as long as there is a business purpose for doing so.
What are my rights if I am a resident of the European Union?
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), you have a number of rights related to the collection, storage, and processing of your personal or sensitive information with which IQS Research complies. Click here for more information.
